On July 26, 1948, Harry Truman integrated the US army. The above song (1941) is truly a WHITE Christmas, but now our troops look so different, many colors, and they have been there for many enlistments/terms of service, whatever it's called. They go into the army, maybe to get the GI Bill -- "The GI Bill provides educational assistance to service members, veterans, and their dependents." Some are killed, some are heroes, some come home and are homeless, we see them on the streets asking for money from the cars passing by,sometimes we give them a dollar and a cigarette, some have PTSD, some kill themselves, some get educational assistance from the GI Bill.
Hello evermore.A very nice yet sombre thought.Too many of our service men and women still suffer the consequences of military action with very little support when they leave.I believe it was Audie Murphy, the most decorated American soldier of WW2 who said,'they prepare you for war but not for the peace',or words to that effect.War can change people,it's a pity that people can't or won't change war.So endeth my sermon for the day...........can't find Treacle.........up to no good,as my gran used to say about me.Nice to hear from you.
