May I suggest the Carolinas. Three hours drive to the mountains. Three and a half to our pristine coast. And a wine growing region in between.

Any and all campgrounds or marinas plenty of fishing, swimming,wildlife galore,April brings Worlds largest Fish Fry all week festival Paris Tenn. to Bison & Elk Prairie , along the Tennessee River south of Land Between the Lakes both sides from Paris, Dover down to Pickwick Dam

I've been a lot of places, Lived in a lot of states but for me it is any where in Mexico, cause you can shop till you drop for everything. And yes to homedoggy, I have lived in North Carolina and the beaches and Mountains are beautiful.
I'm heading to Germany on Monday for 10 days. Hope it's nice. Never been.
