Being that I have just risen from the beyond, don't know about perky or bright eyed want to wish graeme, homedoggy and everyone a very Happy New Year. chilly and bright here in Western 1/3 if Tennessee .
Partly cloudy and 59 degrees here in the northern DC suburbs. I love it when it's Spring on New Year's Day.

29 degrees in Chicago, 100% cloud cover til 5. So the sky is its customary gray/white. For the Blackhawks fans among you, the Winter Classic is on now, Blackhawks 2, Bruins 1 in the 2nd period. They play outdoors, the puck slides through the snow and comes to a stop.
