Please describe the problem in as much detail as possible:
The Jack of Spades is spelled differently, Hocier in top, Hocierr on bottom I just thought you might like to know.
Comments
The family uses both spellings. His baptismal certificate is spelled one way and his birth certificate the other
@Mollykins, You're totally right! The valet is named Hogier (Ogier?). The French used Dutch names on their cards.
This was David Bellot's typo from 2004. Thanks for taking the time to let us know about it!
PS If Belote is one of the oldest French card games, is David Bellot creating a pack of cards nominative determinism?
Fixed.
How do y'all know all this stuff. I can't see any name at all on the card. I bet you all went to some kind of card school!!! (ha ha)
Hi @binky3 the (fixed) writing is a bit clearer when the card is enlarged
For the record....I gave the answer I learned in card college.
I knew there had to be a special school. Thanks flingsaint. I did enlarge it, but just not quite large enough. i just could not figure out what y'all were talking about but not curious enough to do any extensive research.
notice the card up his sleeve. What a cheater.
Yeah doggy, been doing some thinking. Guess if the professional gamblers are really serious about the games, they gotta know this stuff. If I ever master posting a video I'll get back with you on the name of that card college you went to, if my brain quits leaking.
Homedoggy, I guess since you went to card college you must be a certified card. I know I always thought so!
I'm certifiable alright...
And it was Hoyle University
Actually I graduated from Colgate University in Upstate New York and to alums, any Friday the 13th is a special day. I brought my sweatshirt with me but it's too warm in North Carolina to wear
Did you also learn how to make toothpaste & toothbrushes?
I majored in drunken debauchery
... as opposed to regular debauchery
always entertaining ... thanks
