i have played Forty Thieves off and on forever, and on this site off and on forever minus a few years. I have kept a list of the games of Forty Thieves that are winnable on this site since the spring of 2018. Every so often I go back and try to win an old game. I did that tonight and there are no scores at all for the 1st game on my list which is 8379073 which I played in July of 2023. Is this the problem that was under discussion earlier this year? I have also kept a list of the games I've won and which I assume have gone the way of the others. :-(

Hi @jezzbelle this explanation from Greenfelt David on 27 June might explain
Our very large database of scores got corrupted. Many things were still working but some chunks of the db were constantly erring and many people were unable to save new games. We decided to start a new db to put out the immediate fire and give us some breathing room to figure out how to recover as much of the data from the old db as possible. So, yes, at the moment lots of the scores (especially from anything older than a couple months) are not in the new db. But the old db still exists and we intend to recover the data.
@jezzbelle I just played that game. Only @far2old and are on the scoreboard for Game #8379073.

I see that @grammajo and @arriba also tried. I went through the cards just to see where everything was, but having no memory for numbers, I have only blind luck and superstition.

Ponder question .Is Game 8379073 now the same game I played on 7/7/23?

@jezzbelle I would think the game itself is 'stored' in it's number which is plugged into an algorithm. Thus saving the memory needed to store the deal. That might be the hard road home, but it would certainly be an elegant way to write the program.
Still, since I barely got past 'HELLO WORLD' in programming I can't be considered an authority!!
We haven’t gotten around to recovering the old games from our corrupted database. We will at some point.
