REALLY PEOPLE

How can we stop 120 people...in the 'Bug Report' category alone...from complaining about
the EXACT SAME THING?

Comments

  • That would be nice, wouldn't it. And to think that all they need to do is check the discussions to see who already complained.

  • Yer talking crazy there, Silver Hawk

  • From No.# 1 Complainer I feel we are all CRAZY!!!!

  • Springrain,is homedoggy picking on you? I will tell him not to pick on you. homedoggy quit picking on Springrain!

  • Nothing but respect there, G-man

  • So after all that, what was the problem. Do you know why there was no connectivity with the server last night?

  • LOL Homedoggy.

Lissie_Love, odds are they had an overload problem. There are millions of us playing this game. They recently replaced an old server that just could not handle us all. It could be that this new server is getting too many log ons or saves at once. We may be creating a DDoS unintentionally.

  • from a little birdie it was explained to me it was a server problem , and no alarm went off to inform that it was shutting down. Not electronically inclined I am not familiar with computer and technical issues.

  • I'm not tech inclined myself. Over the years I have learn some things, but nothing to make money off; just enough to not feel quite so stupid when someone uses a term.

But a server overload would shut the system down until rebooted just as it would for your computer.

Well, it's not super clear that clicking the "report a bug" link posts to the forum. Not everyone that uses the site is an avid forum reader. Some people just play games and don't really pay attention to anything else on the site.

@Lissie_Love It was my fault. I let the disk fill up on the server (50 GB of log files ????) and like @Gerald64 says, I missed the alarm that tells us we're out of space because it got emailed to my spam folder. I changed how long log files hang around so this particular thing shouldn't happen any more. Ideally.

  • Ideally B) in an ideal world we’d be bored to tears in no time

  • Well, David, no one is perfect. Those who might think you should be, well not worth listening too. Once again, thank you for this great site. Thank you and Jim for all your work and attention to it. I enjoy it very much.

  • Here is a clue to keep playing if the server goes down again, As long as you have a game on a webpage and you select the new game button, you should be able to play the game, as it is already loaded for you, but if you try to go to a different game or refresh your screen you will lose it. I continued playing a game I had up for quite a while when the server was down.

  • Thanks for the explanation David. Homedoggy, I was one of the 60 zillion people who reported the problem. I haven't been doing this long, so I'm still learning to navigate everything. I was actually afraid I had messed up my laptop. I will check for other bug reports next time. Gerald, one doesn't have to be CRAZY to be here, but it helps!

  • jezzbelle...This post was put up in jest. Most of the people who post problems like this never bother to check back once the situation is resolved. You should have seen it for Valentine's Day when David changed the black cards to pink. You would have thought the world was ending. I may sound snarky but the folks that know me, know I'm just messing around. Sorry if you were offended.
    Have fun.

  • Like David said not everyone pays attention to forums. Quite a few just play the games and may or may not even notice things beyond the cards.

New players often don't realize that these forums "talk" both ways. In most games that they play, if they have a problem, they leave a complaint or bug report. No on ever gives them an answer and they don't expect it...they think the same thing happens here. It does make it harder to help them tho.

Then there are those who complain to complain. Something isn't the way they think it should be and they hop on the complaint wagon. They don't care if they get an answer, they got to complain. That's all they wanted.

There are just tons of reasons, I guess, why folks don't read forums. Nothing is going to change that. So, just enjoy the games, pray that the patience that Jim and David have continues so we will continue to have this wonderful site to play on.
