This turns out to be a bug in the recent Firefox. We have narrowed the bug down and submitted it to Mozilla. Let's hope they fix it so we can get back to playing Hopeless!

We just pushed up a change that seems to avoid hitting Firefox's bug in Hopeless. So at least it should work until Firefox gets around to fixing it.

A quick update, it does appear to be a legit bug in firefox. It'll be fixed in Firefox 29 (though that's kind of moot since we've already worked around the issue).
