Here we go.
What for? This has come up multiple times, but David and Jim (and most of the players) say no. There's enough noise and distraction in the world already. If you really must have noise in order to play, turn on your favorite music as accompaniment.
@robertwilcox1@iprimus.com.au It would be a good idea not to use your email address as your user name. Click on Green Felt, in the upper left hand corner of any page here, then click on your user name in the upper right hand corner, then Account Settings to change it.
This is the only site, as far as I know, that doesn't have bothersome distractions.
Ixnay
lxnay????
ooooh...just looked it up. In that case I'm with you.
OK...I'm a bonehead for not looking it up before.
When I was a kid (maaaany long years ago) some of my friends could speak pig latin almost as fast as regular English. Alas, it was a skill I never learned...but I could pick out words one at a time. Do kids still do that?
Found the meaning in...believe or not, Merriam-Webster.
ixnay means to stop, prevent or refuse to accept something.
ix-nay is pig latin has a similar meaning but has a more active response...to reject or put a stop to something.
@anglais reverting to grade school "talk." Yes, pig Latin
@kat14 I think it's a lost art.
When I was a young teenager my brother and I taught ourselves to speak backwards. His kids and grandkids learned too.
@zudensternen impressive
@Sage...I noticed the school monitor is still busy keeping the naughty children in line 🌝. Keep it up...good advice as usual Sage.
LOL..... Thanks, for noticing! @anglais My advice generally goes unheeded, though... I just do it to see my ideas in print. School monitor is a good comparison, though.
Nice to hear from you.
