  • Until homedoggy mentioned the maple leaf cardbacks, I'd forgotten we had them. So, I switched. Glad I did...I like them. :). BTW...I wish great blessings on all the Native Americans on this day also..."Indigenous Peoples' Day" here in the US. ❤️

    Yes, it IS celebrated in much of Latin America as Día de la Raza (Race Day), Día de la Hispanidad (Hispanic Heritage Day), Día de la Resistencia Indígena (Indigenous Resistance Day) or Día de la Diversidad Cultural (Cultural Diversity Day) precisely because it is Columbus Day. Even though there is controversy surrounding the actions of Columbus and his cohorts, it DID change the world and this is a way to draw attention away from Columbus and towards the native people and their heritage. Note: In Mexico "La Raza" (the Race) is used exclusively to mean the indigenous people.
