Spring, for the north, is getting closer, YEAH! Apologies to Denver and the mountain west USA. In 2015, on PI day, my middle grand daughter made an apple pie for her math teacher - a square one - I know, the usual bad pun. The difference was that on March 14, 2015 the value of PI was 3.1415926 or 03/14/15 @ 9:26 AM - Play on Felt Friends.

Well said Ptownpapa.Funny you should mention pi/pie,we are having apple pie and custard for tea.You'r grand-daughter should do well in her next maths exam.Very astute of her.Play on and enjoy.
Would it be possible to have pie cards on pi day - like apples, cherries, blueberries, lemons or other favorites?
It might help popularize this much neglected holiday.
Everyone knows pie r round
my favorite "intellectual" cartoon (not sure if this will work)

@sierrarose And cornbread r square
I loved it Sierra rose! Absolutely perfect. (Or is it pifect)?
Graeme, I'm always hungry after hearing about your tea. happy PI day to you all.
March 14, which is traditionally called Pi Day, I call Lesser Pi Day. A closer approximation occurs on Greater Pi Day, July 22 (i.e. 22/7).
3.14 differs from pi by .00159..., while 22/7 diverges by only .00126... My favorite pi approximation is 355/113, which comes within 1 part in nearly 10 million (but doesn't translate into a calendar date in any obvious way).
Bonus: the first million digits of pi. http://www.piday.org/million/
Pi is a great movie if you can find it.
