Please describe the problem in as much detail as possible:

Why do my cards keep jumping back to their previous position? And why do we have to
get into a forum discussion for a problem instead of the tech people who are producing the game?

  • Because Jim and David, who own and run this site, are working, family men who don't charge us a dime for all the pleasure we get, and do all the work themselves! They pay for it all out of the goodness of their hearts and their love for the games, so they don't hire people to do the grunt work. They spend as much time as they can keeping things going and they do read and respond to comments and questions when at all possible. I think what they do is amazing!

They have answered the "jumping cards" multiple times. It may be that you are inadvertently clicking on the background which activates autofinish or doing a right click which is an "undo". If you click the "Rules" button and then go to "supermoves" you might find some insight.

Thanks, @Sage. It’s been a while since I have answered this, so I’ll take the time to answer again.

The Green Felt philosophy is that the game should make playing efficient. We allow you to skip moves if the skipped moves are obvious, trivial, and unambiguous. For example, if you want to move the second card down in a pile, and to do that you’d have to first move the top card out of the way to an obvious place, then you can just assume the game will do that for you if you grab the second card. If you change your mind and drop the second card, then we’ll return it where it came from and then put the top card back too. This also applies to any place where you might want to drop a card. Let’s say while you are dragging a card you realize that to put it where you want you’d have to first move a card or two out of the way, then there’s no need to put the card back, move the few cards out of the way and then pick the original card back up and make your now-possible move. Instead, while you are dragging, we’ll do our best to move things out of the way assuming you want to drop the card where you are currently hovering. If you move elsewhere, we’ll put those cards back and try and make room where you move to. Essentially when you play Green Felt it’s like you have a hyper-active assistant constantly anticipating your next move and making the boring moves you need in advance while you just think about the high level. This focus on efficiency is what sets Green Felt apart from other solitaire sites, but it also can be a bit disconcerting if you don’t expect it. We hope you learn to harness the power of these “super moves”. We think they make playing solitaire card games much more fun.

    Good luck,
    -@jim

  • Thank you for letting me know about Jim and Dave. I had no idea. I do appreciate Greenfelt and enjoy it.
The Sage answer doesn't address my problem. I am aware of the super moves and know how to use them.
    My problem is more basic.
What happens is: I'll move a card to a valid spot, a simple basic move. For some reason it will jump back to the place it was and the last several moves will also jump back, which means I have to redo up to five moves to get back to where I want to be. I generally click my mouse to make moves, but even dragging a card to a new spot causes the same problem.
It happens with every single game multiple times. I've played this game for
years, and never had the problem until the last few months. I've tried shutting down my browser and my computer,
it doesn't make a difference. I am not trying to move a card to a spot that needs another card to move, or moving a second card in a pile. I am simply moving one card to a valid spot.
In a time rated game, this means I have to redo the last several moves to continue playing. I hope I have made
    this problem clearer.

Thank you both for your responses. I hope the above helps you understand the problem I'm having a little better.
Like I've said I've played on this site for years, and never had the problem, and I know how the game works, super moves included.
