Just started playing Free Cell, I'm addicted! Question as to how things work in GreenFelt land: I have 3 cards in "jail", 2 empty columns and I want to move a string of cards - say J, 10, 9, 8, 7. Sometimes I can move 2 cards to an empty column. Sometimes I can move 3 cards to an empty column. I won't know until I click, click. Why is it not always only 2 cards? Thank you.

If you click the Show Rules button, above the cards, this should be explained.
Nope
Thank you. I found the answer on another website. Game rules here are abbreviated.
The game rules here are very clear and even explain some of the moves that can baffle so many people when the cards move fast. Just click on each section for more information and have fun. Glad you love the game.
This seems to answer your question:
To improve the game play, multiple cards may be dragged at once as long as there are enough empty FreeCells such that the move could be made by moving the cards individually.
I appreciate y'all so much. Everyone is helpful, civil and nice. Hugs
