instant(ly) hopeless?

There is a player currently on the hopeless leaderboard whose scores are all posted at one time. Howevever, their games are taking one and a half to two and a half minutes to play. The time of my scores advances with the completion of each game. Why not the same for this player? And no, not sour grapes. Idle curiousity.
