How are the top three Overall players of the day calculated?

Are they calculated purely from top three placings? Or from top ten? Or some collation of all placings - though how could that take into account the number of different games played, given that some players clearly don't see beyond Freecell or Klondike so only play one game of the day each day, others clearly pick their favourites from the range offered so could play any number from 2 to however-many-there-are on the Leader Board. Assuming that the number of times each game is played/replayed is not taken into consideration.

Actually, the same questions might be asked of the Overall players of the week.
Just curious, asking out of nothing more than pure curiosity. No hidden agenda in the enquiry.
