    Well... we wrote the crossword engine code before we decided to actually look what it takes to get the puzzles themselves. We kind of expected that there would be free ones out there that we could use. But there aren't. Everyone charges for them (which makes sense in retrospect—it isn't easy to create good ones). So we're in the state of not wanting to spend a bunch of money (since the site brings in literally zero money right now), and so there's only one there that a puzzle enthusiast friend of ours made. If we ever get a revenue stream for the site going we'll look into paying someone for some good crosswords.
