Don't know how you compute the player of the day (number of total points?... Weighted points for number of times came in first/second/third?).
Here's an alternative: Every highest score in each game: 20 points / 2nd: 15 / 3rd: 11 /
4th: 8 / 5th: 6 / 6th: 5 / 7th: 4 / 8th: 3 / 9th: 2 / 10th place: 1 point.
No points start to be counted until the player gets a first place (and 20 points).
