What's up with Notifications?

Just noticed in my ⛭ > Preferences that all categories of Notifications are checked for both email and popup. I have never gotten an email from Greenfelt and don't remember ever getting a popup either while logged in and active. Does the Notifications feature even work (anymore)?

    Tried sending a test email to the "fake-" email address at greenfelt.net listed in my profile — it bounced with 550 no mailbox.
