usernames allow spaces - but those fail when using the messages board

I originally had a space in my user name. I found out early on I could never access the messages w/o getting an error message for "invalid signature" . Today I changed my username to remove the space, and lo and behold I can now access this message board! just documenting it in case it not a known bug/anomaly.
