The randomness of winning Freecell

It has been occurring to me how much chance is involved in getting and staying on the scoreboard — in the top 10.

I play a good deal, most every day, and have come to recognize many of the good players' names. I could probably list off 20 or 30 of them who regularly beat Freecell in 20, 30, or 40 seconds per game.

If 10 or more of those players happen to be active at the same time as I am, I will never see the top 10. And on the occasions when I do make the board, I keep that browser tab open and watch over the next few hours to see if I get bumped out by better players. Which happens more of the time than not.
