Thanks, Moochie (and everyone else who reported the problem). It seems something was going crazy and stealing all the computer time. I've temporarily disabled it and it seemed to have a pretty immediate effect, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed--there may be other issues.

The side effect of my quick fix is that if you're playing lots of games you will mostly be playing games that no one else has played before. The part that was going slow was the part that looked for games that other people had played that you hadn't. I still like the idea though and we'll see if we can get the feature back without it taking down the whole site.
